
Good News about Chocolate:
Researchers in the Netherlands have discovered that chocolate contains "catechins," a type of antioxidant that helps protect cells from damage, and the body from disease. In fact, dark chocolate contains four times more catechins than black tea. In Asian studies, the catechins found in tea have been linked to lower rates of heart disease and cancer. Milk chocolate contains about the same amount of catechins as black tea. This recent finding about chocolate confirms other recent studies, showing that cocoa, which contains antioxidants called flavonoids, may reduce the risk of heart disease. All of these benefits may reduce the guilt associated with enjoying that chocolate bar.
Chocolate is vegetable:
Bean = vegetable. Sugar is derived from either sugar CANE or sugar BEETS. Both are plants, which places them in the vegetable category. Thus, chocolate is a vegetable. To go one step further, chocolate candy bars also contain milk, which is dairy. So candy bars are a health food. Chocolate-covered raisins, cherries, orange slices and strawberries all count as fruit, so eat as many as you want. If you've got melted chocolate all over your hands, you're eating it too slowly.
Bonbons:
1913 - The Filled Chocolate bonbon Jules Sechaus, another Swiss chocolate maker, invented the filled chocolate bonbon. from this point, it would be necessary for children in the chocolate-eating world to punch small holes with their thumbnails in the bottoms of the candies to be quiet sure they wanted whatever was inside.
Truffles:
Perhaps originating in France, the truffle is named for its visual similarity to the French mushroom-like fungus of the same name. Like the original truffle, chocolate truffles have become synonymous with luxury and a sumptuous taste experience. Truffles are made in a wide variety of tastes. In many chocolate houses the Chocolatiers finest ingredients are reserved for the truffle. As in our house all of our truffles are made with finest Belgian chocolate in small batches to insure the quality of the product. Our truffles are perfect combination of a creamy smooth center and crunchy shell with a beautiful design, and because all of our truffles hand rolled and decorated there is no two truffles that are the alike.
Caramels:
Did you know that there is a whole month that is dedicated to caramel? Our national caramel month is octomber, and why not? That smooth, buttery, chewy candy that practically melts in your mouth should be celebrated. The only way to make it even batter is to add chocolate to it that is why March 19th is the National Chocolates Caramel Day.
